When I was a child, what I remember most is the holidays, the special times, singing carols, watching the TV shows, decorating the house and staring at the lights. The holidays have their imprints on me as the most memorable occasions as a child. In this day and age, having “magic” moments with the children are next to impossible. We all know that things have changed since we were children but what can we do.
In 2001, Michelle and I decided that we would go all out and start decorating for our kids. We only had one at the time, and we created a winter wonderland inside our home. Everything Christmas that year, and even Halloween had lights all over the house.
We have continued to build on that and each year, we get a little bit bigger and the response we get is heart warming. Having people stop you at the store to say “Thank you”, letters in the mail, phone calls and just people stopping in front of the house to say “My kids have made your decorations part of the nightly experience”. That’s why we do this, to make a child remember the good feelings that go with the holidays, they are only young for a little while and then school violence, adult pressures and all that goes with this world take hold.
Holidays are meant to be fun, creative and a special time for all. Memories are imprinted for our children during the holidays. So I hope you enjoy what you see, we always have fun.
